Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026 · Effective: May 28, 2026

1. Introduction

CrazyWick ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website located at crazywick.com (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have in relation to that information.

By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

CrazyWick is operated by Manish Khanal, an individual based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We are not a registered financial institution, broker, or investment adviser. This Platform publishes independent financial commentary and analysis for educational purposes only.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us via the contact form.
  • Name — if voluntarily provided through the contact form or account registration.
  • Account information — if you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google as authorized by you.
  • User-generated content — comments, reactions, and votes you submit on the Platform.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, time spent, referring URLs, browser type, operating system, and device type, collected via Google Analytics 4 (Property ID: G-JN6TBQ8Y6W).
  • IP address — collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel) and analytics services for security and geographic analysis.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish users and sessions. Authentication sessions use secure HTTP-only cookies managed by NextAuth.js.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Google OAuth — when you sign in with Google, we receive profile data as described in Section 2.1 above. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Financial data APIs — we use the Finnhub API to display live market ticker prices. We do not share your personal data with Finnhub.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver and improve the Platform and its content.
  • Send you newsletters and updates you have subscribed to.
  • Respond to your messages and contact form submissions.
  • Authenticate your identity when you sign in.
  • Analyze usage patterns to understand what content is most valuable.
  • Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their marketing purposes. We do not run advertisements on this Platform.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, our legal basis for collecting and using personal information depends on the specific data:

  • Consent — for newsletter subscriptions and non-essential cookies (e.g. Google Analytics). You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contractual necessity — for processing data needed to provide account functionality.
  • Legitimate interests — for analytics, security, and Platform improvement, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where processing is required by applicable law.

5. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — session authentication cookies required for the Platform to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _gid) that collect anonymized usage data. You may opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the Platform.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — Vercel (hosting and edge functions), Neon (PostgreSQL database), Google (Analytics and OAuth), Finnhub (financial data). Each is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers — if CrazyWick is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

We do not share your data with any other third party without your explicit consent.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Platform and fulfil the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact form messages — retained for up to 12 months for correspondence records.
  • Analytics data — retained for 14 months in Google Analytics (the default retention period).

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction — request that we restrict processing of your data.
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for newsletter subscriptions at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@crazywick.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. These include:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from the Platform.
  • HTTP-only, secure authentication session cookies.
  • Database access restricted to authenticated server-side processes only.
  • No storage of payment card data (we do not currently process payments).

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@crazywick.com.

10. Children's Privacy

CrazyWick is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it immediately.

11. International Data Transfers

CrazyWick is operated from Nepal. Our service providers — including Vercel, Neon, and Google — may process your data in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your data to these jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

12. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we will provide prominent notice on the Platform.
